Fire and explosion risk assessment

Fire and explosion risk assessment

Mandatory for companies / areas where potentially explosive atmospheres are likely to be present. According to the ATEX (equipment) directive 94/9/EC and 2014/34/EU,  also the ATEX (employee) directive 1999/92/EC – each company  require an explosion risk assessment. Main focus here is identify the fire and explosion hazard – the presence of a dangerous substances. Identify the hazardous events leading to failure including the presence of a flammable / explosive atmosphere and subsequent ignition. Identify control established to ensure fire and explosion safety. Estimate the risk by determining the likelihood of failure and extent of harm. Evaluate the risk to determine whether it is tolerable. Plan further actions to lower the potential of accident, explosion or fire.
